Drones and Social Distancing
With new demands for social distancing, some businesses are turning to drones in place of face-to-face interactions in certain instances. If this is a smart solution for your company, there are things you need to know about insuring drone or unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) use.
Your company generally has two options: hire a drone-service provider or operate your own UAVs. If you choose to outsource your unmanned aircraft operations, make sure your provider has adequate liability insurance that protects you from injury claims. Your agent or broker can advise you on how to become an insured party under the service company’s coverage.
If you are going to operate drones in-house, know that injuries or property damage they cause may be excluded from your commercial general liability policy. You might need a specific drone liability policy. And don’t forget to ask about protecting your investment in drones – UAVs from damage, destruction and theft.
